» The magic of thinking big

Hello,

At work and in your home, have you ever questioned yourself that why he/she could do this, but I could not? Does he/ she have a better intellect or a better opportunity than you? The answer is definitely NO. The difference is the size of your thinking. Henry Ford used to say that “Whether you think that you can, or that you can't, you are usually right”. With the same idea, a commonly-used proverb in the English language is “Where there is a will there is a way”. It emphasizes that belief in success is the one basic, absolutely critical ingredient of successful people.

Dr. David J. Schwartz who is long regarded as one of the foremost experts on motivation, said in his book “The Magic of Thinking Big” that: “Belief, strong belief, triggers the mind to figure ways and means and how-to. And believing you can succeed makes others place confidence in you”. Indeed, without belief, people would not have the courage, patience, and passion to create all the great inventions and scientific discoveries.

In this newsletter, I want to share three fundamental principles which are expected to help us strengthen our power of belief.

  • Always think about success rather than failure. In all aspects of your life, you should substitute successful thinking for failure. When you face a difficult situation, think, “I'll win", not “I'll probably lose”. When you compete with someone else, think, "I'm equal to the best”, not "I'm outclassed”. When opportunity appears, think "I can do it”. Let the thought "I will succeed" dominate your thinking process. When you have successful thinking, it will shape your mind to create plans that harvest success. Thinking failure does the exact opposite.

  • Regularly remind yourself that you can achieve more than you can imagine. Success does not require a super intellect. Nor is there anything magic about success. And people can’t achieve success based on luck. Successful people are just ordinary ones who always believe in themselves and what they do.

  • Think and believe big. The size of your success is determined by the size of your belief. Think big goals and prepare big plans to win big success. Try to remember that big ideas and big plans are often easier – certainly no more difficult - than small ideas and small plans.

Believe in yourself and you can achieve great results. This is a key factor to your success. The book also provides the readers guidelines to help them build their own plan for self-training and development. You can also learn many valuable lessons in the book to improve yourself and achieve greater success. I would like to hear your success story and values brought from big thinking.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Cheers,
